My experience with the Ultimate 12 has been great. I started 8 or 9 years ago with a SINK then went to a SOT. I've test paddled the Slayer 12 & 14.5, the Cuda 12 & 14, the Coosa, Hobie Pro Angler, and a Hobie Outback. After having test paddled all those I can say with confidence that the Ultimate suits me the best for the kind of fishing I do. Generally speaking the Ultimate is a great blend of everything I need in a yak. Its only 30inches wide so it will paddle upstream fairly quickly. (80% of my fishing is paddle upstream and fish my way back) Its open from bow to stern so you can put your stuff anywhere you like....
I picked up the Slayer 14.5 around 6 weeks ago, and decided to wait awhile to get a good feel for it before writing a review. I have now taken it from ankle deep water to the open ocean and I feel that I can write this review with confidenc...
I didn't think i had a place for the Cuda 12. I have a Coosa for my river fishing. I have a Cuda 14 for my ocean fishing. If I was fishing lakes, then I'd pick either the Coosa or the C14 depending on the size of the lake. Then I borrowed...
Specs: Length: 14’-3” Width: 30.5” Height: 11” (seat area) Weight: 74 lbs. Capacity: 400 lbs. The Jackson Cuda 14 is a great kayak for the type of fishing I do.I fish the coastal creeks of Jacksonville, FL, and occasionally will take the kayak offshore. The speed, stability, and of course the seat were what drew me to this kayak. The Cuda 14 is the longest kayak I have paddled. It tracks very straight without a rudder, and it flies through the water with easy paddle strokes. One thing I have noticed about the length though, is that it turns a lot slower than my old 12.5' kayak. This is something that I don't mind though. There are so many...
I’ve had an Ocean Kayak Trident 11 for a few years now, originally I was searching for something that was smaller and easier to handle. I’m able to easily car top my kayak. The T11 performs well in most conditions. I wound not recommend paddling it extremely long distances but I’ve paddled 5+ miles in it without out too much issue. The kayak is relatively fast for a shorter kayak and very stable. I don’t have any issues standing in it. It tracks well even without a rudder. The features are well thought out but I don’t use the rod pod like I thought I would. There is a battery bag in the bow for your fish finder battery and the scupper hole on the right by your foot...
In February 2012 I was contacted by Corey of Kajun Custom Kayaks (KC Kayaks) to see if I would be interested in trading a K12 for a few months of advertising space. I knew that they were fairly new to the industry, so I didn’t mind helping share their new product. I always love trying out new boats! After talking to Corey, I decided to do a bit of research on the K12. I learned that it is the product of a design done by the legendary Tim Niemier and his company “On the Water Designs”. For those of you who aren’t familiar, Tim is credited with introducing the Sit-on-Top (SOT) design many of us fish from today. Tim was the original creator of Ocean Kayak (which he...
Today, I ventured to one of my favorite spots in SW Nebraska...ROCK CREEK! This amazing fishery is rated as the #1 bass lake in Nebraska. Recent increased pressure makes me wonder if that 8+ pounder is still lurking in the depths. With 30 to 43 mph winds I paddled to my favorite spots and used my ski pole and clip to hold me in place along cat tails and shallow shorelines. The bass looked to have spawned just last week while I was away. The gills are on their beds now and I could see many male largemouth lurking in the shallows. I managed catching ten largemouth and two gills this morning and it was great just being out on the lake after another year of teaching. I used Powerteam lures with much success today. I rigged a circle hook through a "Sick Stick" in watermelon color and the bass just hammered it. I stuck a finishing nail in it to sink it a bit faster. I was home just after lunch but will head back out tomorrow with my little guy CJ!

The Kayak Fishing Classics was in town recently for the 10,000 Islands Classic. I decided, along with many others, to head down to Chokoloskee and participate. I was looking forward to fishing the area as it had been a couple of months since I last vis...
As my 2012 Jackson Cuda is had approached about 4,000 miles of fishing adventures, I was leaning in the thought process that it must be time for a new fishing kayak. First I had to decide what I would replace the 2012 Cuda with. I knew that...
My Typical Use- I typically use my kayak on streams and lakes in and around Kentucky. Bass fishing is my predominant fishing, but I will also fish for pan-fish on occasion. The streams I usually fish are flat-water with little flow. The lakes I fish vary in size. Overall synopsis- This is a great kayak. I don’t really have the money or storage to justify two kayaks. I prefer one kayak that can “do it all.” This kayak does well in all situations I have had it in. It is very stable and is easy to fish from. If you have decent balance, it is easy to stand and fish. The fishing features are well thought out and make fishing a lot easier. Fish-ability- This is...
